How Does Thermacell LIV Work?

Your summer could be blissfully free of flying, biting pests with the right solution. Thermacell LIV is a permanently installed insect deterrent that uses heat-activated cartridges to emit vaporized repellent. It is effective against disease carrying mosquitoes… as well as flies, midges, and flying ants.

The Thermacell LIV is clean, quiet, unobtrusive, and free of unpleasant, chemical scents. It is easily operated through an app or via your smart speaker.

How Do You Install Thermacell?

Thermacell is installed and set up by licensed pest control companies – like Twin Forks Pest Control. We can supply, install, and service Thermacell LIV smart insect repellent systems… creating a year-round zone of protection designed especially for your outdoor spaces.

When installing your system, we begin by mapping out a grid of your property – noting the proximity of available electrical outlets and designating the areas to receive coverage. We note the location of any areas to be excluded from coverage, such as ornamental fishponds.

After determining where to place the hub and repeller units, we install them using standard mounts drilled into solid surfaces; ground stakes for grass, mulch, and other soft surfaces; and/or hardscape bases on stone, pavers, and other surfaces where drilling isn’t a viable option.

After the repeller units are placed, we connect and secure the cables, insert repellent cartridges, and direct you to download the app and follow the instructions to bring your system online. Your Thermacell can then be turned on via the app or through your smart speaker. It may also be operated manually.

Where Should Thermacell Be Placed?

Thermacell LIV units should be placed outdoors, optimally in areas with low wind flow. They should be situated in the areas of your property where you spend the most time (for example, near patios and decks). Each unit creates a 20-foot zone of protection, and up to five units can be operated from a single hub.

How Much Does Thermacell Cost?

The cost of your Thermacell system depends on how many units you choose for your outdoor space. That will depend upon the size of the area you want to be free of mosquitos and related pests. Prices may vary based on the type of installation you require.

Can You Use Thermacell in the House?

The EPA has found Thermacell safe for use around children, babies, and most non-aquatic pets, but it is for outdoor use only. Do not use Thermacell indoors, inside tents, or in other enclosed areas.

How Long Does Thermacell Last?

Thermacell cartridges have an average runtime of 40 hours. Cartridge life may be longer or shorter based on environmental conditions. But you only turn Thermacell on when you’re going to be outside. The system even comes with an app that allows you to turn it on before your outside activity and turn it off when you’re done.

How Do You Know When Thermacell is Empty?

You can monitor Thermacell LIV repellent levels in the LIV+ app or by visual inspection of the unit. A warning light will flash on any cartridge that may be running low.
